Conclusion:

We have been converting wind energy into mechanical energy for thousands of years although its further conversion into electrical energy has been developed only over the past 100 years. While there are two main types of wind turbines, nearly all of those in use are the horizontal-axis type.
There are many thousands of wind turbines installed around the world and more are planned. Wind farm installations linked with conventional generating plant are thought to be the best way of using wind energy.
In Western Australia, wind has become an important source of energy following improvements in the design and efficiency of wind turbine electricity generators. It is continually becoming more attractive due to the escalating cost of fossil fuels. Wind is one of the more practical forms of renewable energy that could be used to help minimise greenhouse gas emissions.
