The facts about Solar hot water

Smart ways to use your new water heater:

After your purchase, it’s important to make the most efficient use of your solar hot water system. Follow these smart ways to save hot water and money at home:

  • Do jobs requiring hot water in the morning, where possible. During the day, the sun will reheat the water remaining in the tank and this reduces the need for expensive boosting.

  • The recommended setting for the booster thermostat is 60 degrees Celsius. Higher settings will increase the amount of energy used for boosting.

  • In Perth, you can probably turn off your booster because the bright sun provides ample natural heat.

  • During the rest of the year, you can reduce energy costs by setting your boosting timer (or manually boosting) for a limited period in the late afternoon and the evening.
